Recently, I got the chance to play with the Accell UltraAV USB 2.0 to HDMI Adapter and try it on my HDTV. All in all, I was pretty impressed. The software was an easy install (needed a reboot though) and once I plugged in the little adapter, my TV was detected and came up as another monitor in the OS. The color was pretty good although I think the black and white levels were a bit crushed but not too bad. I instantly wanted to try some of the more performance related tasks on the TV so I popped in to iTunes and loaded up a movie. The movie was watchable but it was pretty jumpy and the video skipped a bit but honestly, I knew I couldn’t expect too much from a USB 2.0 adapter. Amongst the other USB adapters I have tried, this one handled the refresh the best that I have seen. I also love the size of this thing. It’s super compact and fits in my laptop bag easily. I had hoped that it would send audio too but oh well. For some reason I couldn’t get it to do widescreen. It was only able to send 4:3 to my TV but I’ll give that one to my TV not being the newest on the block
Quick summary: I like it, it works, it’s small and pretty fast. If this is something you have been needing in your arsenal of adapters, I recommend it!
