Ask iBAM: My Twitterrific is Broken

UPDATE: This issue has been resolved (read the comments)
I got this little issue that’s been bugging me for a while now (since about October)
I LOVE TWITTERRIFIC! However, ever since switching to Leopard, I haven’t been able to use it. It starts up just fine and runs well for a little bit. But once I close the window (leaving it running in the background), It freezes! It’s a weird freeze though. I can type in the entry box, nothing shows up, but a click of the mouse will update the window. This goes for everything! The window just stops updating until I click it. I can’t even bring up the prefs window without clicking the little wrench twice. It really is frustrating.
I have the latest version, I reinstalled several times and nothing! I have tried searching the internet several times to see if anyone else was having the same problem and come up dry. Is this only me or have any of you experienced this as well. What am I doing wrong?
I miss my twitterrific, will we ever be able to be together again?

I had the same problem which drove me crazy so i enabled the dock icon so i have more control over the application and it works fine about 80% of the time
Another problem growl doesn’t work with twitter any more and i had to turn that off
Just try appzapping it and re-installing it. Make sure you have the latest leopard updates too.
Done and done… no dice! (bummer)
I was going to say, I’ve been using Twitteriffic for the past few months and I hadn’t discovered it until post Leopard update. Glad you got it working!
I haven’t gotten it working…
I have no other idea’s. I’m not partially keen on the fact of the not-so-hefty $15 you have to pay, thats why i either use the web or snitter which both work just as well. Also i use moodblast. Sorry for your troubles, but i don’t know a fix.
Snitter balks out on me too… I think it’s a conspiracy
Brent,
I’ve had some trouble with Twitterific since switching to Leopard as well. Unfortunately I think that they are just not going to jive. I thought it was the only one having this issue. Sorry to hear this news.
Brent,
We’re working on a new release that should solve a lot of the problems that people are having with Leopard. Apple re-wrote a lot of the underlying networking frameworks for Leopard and it’s caused a lot of problems for a lot of developers (including ones working on Safari.)
As far as getting things working — disable anything in /Library/InputManagers (many of the Safari “plug-ins” will cause problems because of the networking changes.) Also, make sure you’re not running any Haxies — they could be causing the redraw problems you are reporting. Finally, turn off any networking proxies you might have running (e.g. Privoxy.)
If you continue to have problems, get in touch using the contact form on our website. Thanks!

No problems here, other than Twitter’s sporadic downtimes.
I use Twitterrific with the menu bar icon disabled, and the dock icon enabled, if that makes any difference.
Craig,
Thanks for stopping by! I totally figured that was the issue and I feel for you guys. You have an outstandingly stellar application there and I literally sit in anticipation waiting for your next release. On first attempt the tips didn’t work as I don’t have any of that stuff going on but I’m gonna look more into it and if ‘m still stumped, you can count on that contact from me.
Please keep up posted on your progress as I wanna be first in line!
Thanks again!
Brent
Well… I might be countin’ my chickens before they’re hatched but Craig might have hit the nail right on the head. At first attempt, it seems that this issue I’m having might be related to my running installation of Sticky Windows. I love this app too but if it comes down to one or the other, Twitterrific is the easy winner. Sorry Sticky, until you two play nice, I’m gonna leave you off. I promise to check back after every update.
I sure hope this was the fix, I’m really excited to be using Twitterrific again.
Anyone else out there using both these apps?
It’s working fine for me…
Update: yep, it’s official! Sticky Windows was the culprit. I’m so happy!
Thanks Craig!
I love this site! Thanks for all the comments! It’s a great resource!
