If you haven’t fallen love with webclips for your iPhone yet, this little hack might just push you over the edge (well, maybe not but it’s something anyway). I’ll bet you were wondering if there was a way to put a icon on your home screen that quick dials a number for you. Well, look no further! Your answer is right here and it just might save your life! Here’s a quick tutorial on how to put a speed dial icon on your (v. 1.1.3) iPhone.

  • Open Safari
  • Type in the address of: “http://##########.tel.QLNK.net” (the number you want to call where the ###’ s are)
  • A “Cancel or Call” dialog will pop up
  • Cancel the dialog
  • Click the “+” sign to create a webclip
  • Name your clip, save and you’re done!

You will have a nifty little green phone number icon on your screen all ready to rock!

Now… I am not sure this is THAT much of a time saver since you can add a contact to your favorites screen and accomplish just about the same thing. Sure, it’s a double-tap of the button and THEN a whole other tap on the contact name. Count ‘em … 3 taps versus the 2 for the speed dial webclip icon, but hey! I guess a tap is a tap and for every little speck of time you save over … like, a thousand years could add up to maybe … an hour … or something. Anyway, whatever… Pick your poison. Now you have a whopping 2 options for your speed dial needs. Yep! I’m all about the time savers here at iBAM (or something). I could have just saved your life. No thanks necessary.
