FYI: I just switched back to GR last night... I just can't make up my mind

Personally... I use both iChat & Adium (and Skype) because Adium keeps all my accounts in one place and easy (that's what it's for) but it does not support video or voice, so I have iChat (and Skype) for that. One day maybe, there will be one (ring) to rule them all. I hope anyway.

Hmmm... Maybe I should just work with a reader for a bit to see how it works for me. I'm such a creature of habit though.

One thing I've noticed since switching to the mac, is that I struggle with deciding which is the "best" app I should be running for a particular task. (This is a bit of a tangent)

It seems that apple lovers are so quick to tout how wonderful some of the built-in apps are on a mac (Safari, Mail, iChat, etc...) but then quickly ditch them for some other third party app (Firefox, Thunderbird, Adium, etc...) Personally, since I'm new to the apple world, I really want to use the nice Cocoa-based, intel-optimized Apple apps... I just want to believe that for my money, the apple apps are going to provide the most sort of "holistic apple experience" for my switch... But I'm beginning to think that this isn't the case based on the sheer number of folks who are using non-apple apps.

Am I the only one that struggles with this? :) Seriously iChat or Adium? hehe

I use Google Reader because then I can access it from anywhere. In between classes I can log into my google account and read my feeds.

I think it's a matter of preference really. Live bookmarks are just as useful as a reader. I, personally, like to see more than the title sometimes and appreciate the "starring" option in Google Reader (GR) or the "flagging" option in NNW so if it's something I want to read later, I can do so when I get the time. Haven't used FF Live Bookmarks that much, can you do that in there?

What are the benefits of using a newsreader vs just having Live Bookmarks in Firefox? I've been using the latter ever since I realized what that little RSS icon started popping up.

Am I missing something?

The nice thing about FF, is that it allows you to have your bookmarks open down the left side of your browser, so you can see the content along with your feeds/bookmarks.
