Ask iBAM … ?

So, I got this crazy idea and I want to see what you guys think about it. I’d love for your feedback if you have any. I’m thinking about doing a semi-regular podcast here in iBoughtAMac called “Ask iBAM”. My first thought is to open up the panel for questions and I’ll select a couple each time to answer. If things take off, we can extend the ideas further, but let’s start easy and go from there. However, I’d like to lay down a couple rules (or guidelines) to the show just to keep things focused in the right direction: (Off the top of my head)

  1. I am not Apple Tech Support – Nor do I want to be. (Plus, if you have been following this blog for very long, you would know that I’m not that old when it comes to “Mac-Years”. I blog things as I figure them out or as someone enlightens me.)
  2. I like interesting stuff as much as the next guy – Interesting questions will get interesting answers. Pretty simple, I think.
  3. Keep it light and fun – That’s always the best policy anyway.
  4. I’m not a pro – Don’t expect the coolest show on the planet, not gonna happen here, sorry.
  5. There are some things I just won’t do – Deal with it!

Okay, that should do it. I’m sure someone will find a loophole, but that’s what’s so cool about this being my blog. I can do whatever I want (well… within reason anyway). I’m pretty excited to see what questions will come up and I’m even more excited about making the show based on them. All I can say is it’s good to be back after the freaking crazy summer I have had. I missed you guys. Okay… bring on the questions, I’m stoked to hear your ideas.

  • Sure, sounds like a really good idea to me. I'm always looking for random stuff. For instance, I had remembered reading somewhere where if you're on the web and need the definition for a word, you could hit a few key strokes and launch the built in Dictionary in Tiger. The only problem is at the time I had forgot to bookmark the page, s off I went on a "safari" looking for that particular page. That was really frustrating. That's a great feature that I think is sometimes overlooked. Thanks for puttin' it out there

Man I just like it when you find a new app. Its always cool to see what handy apps someone finds useful. Keep it up! 1passwd is like the bomb!
  • Here's a question for ya, though it may fall under the "tech support" area:

How can I assign static IPs to my macs through my Airport?
  • Yeah baby! Buy a Mac... Everybody's doing it! haha :)
  • Sounds good to me. Hopefully it will be right around the time I actually get one :)
