Eight random things about me

Here I am, unable to sleep once again and so I find myself plinking away through my Mint pages and I notice a link from a “random” post. With not much to do, I decide to investigate and to my surprise, I have been tagged by Kim M. Bayne and her Minced Media blog. Tagged? You may ask… Well, From what I gather, this particular tagging must result in a completely spontaneous post containing eight random facts about me. Now, I don’t consider myself all that interesting, but I’ll try to think of the most random stuff I can in hopes that you find it semi-interesting. Here goes (In no specific order) …

  1. I ate a “10×10″ and a “Double King” – Someone recently told me that In-n-Out doesn’t do any size burger anymore. I’m not sure if this is true, but nevertheless, I have eaten a 10×10 (that’s 10 patties and 10 pieces of cheese on a bun). It came on it’s side in the fry tray (looked like a troff to me). I also ate the Double King burger at Fatburger just to get my picture on the wall. I’m not a competition eater by any means, but every once in a while, I do enjoy a challenge. you just have to catch me in the right mood.
  2. I hate Papyrus – I love type and just about everything typographic, but there are a few typefaces that I just can’t stand. At the top of the list with a bullet is Papyrus. I just can’t stand it and if you ever spend some time with me, you will not only hear about my loathing of that font but see me point it out whenever I see it. It has to be one of the most overused fonts on the planet, I just can’t stand that. Be at least somewhat original! Anyway, I’ll cut my ranting at a minimum and leave it at that. (Dishonorable mention: Comic Sans & Times New Roman)
  3. I Like-a the DVD – Several years ago I got really tired of paying late fees at the video store when I forgot to take the movie back (which I did just about every time I rented), so I started just buying the movies I wanted to see and selling the ones I didn’t like on eBay. It turned into a habit and I have amassed quite a collection of DVD’s today because of it. More recently, Netflix has become my happy medium solution but I still get the occasional DVD every once in a while. Old habits die hard, I guess.
  4. I am “Bubba” – Back in High School, I operated my own BBS with my Amiga 500. This BBS was called Bubba’s BBS and featured a gamut of semi-questionably legal software for the would be digital traveler. Gone are my hacking and phreaking days, but I do reminisce every once in a while about the “old days” before the Internet, lean back in my chair and smile to myself with some of the fond memories. I do wish I knew where some of those people ended up, others I know still to this day.
  5. Half of PuppetMaster – When I was 19, a friend and I decided to re-create a stage drama together. We called it PuppetMaster as it was based off another one we had seen before. As I understand it, today, that drama we created is performed all over the world by countless groups worldwide. It’s just a crazy thought that something I made could end up all over the place and still be in use today. Recently, someone asked me to re-cut the soundtrack since the music was no longer in print. So I did, and here’s the link to that site.
  6. I make “Bideos” – I love to produce creative videos. One time, after a long editing session, I was writing on a tape and I accidentally wrote a “B” instead of a “V” in the word video. Since that point, another friend and I have laughingly referred to our creative videos as “Bideos”. I guess today they would be called viral videos, but I think I will stick with the term bideo cuz I just wanna.
  7. I found a Band-Aid in my burger – When I was a kid, I was eating with my parents at Red Robin. When I was about halfway through my burger and just as I was pulling it up to my mouth for another bite, I noticed something sticking out from under the patty. I opened up the burger and, to my dismay, found a band-aid, rolled up into a circle and squashed flat by my burger with a nice little red spot where the little pad is. I kinda blanked out after that, but my parents tell me the meal was free. I don’t recall ever eating at Red Robin with my parents again after that.
  8. A Portion of Crap – So, I have this theory that everyone, upon being born, is issued an equal portion of crap (bad things happening to them) that they have to eat over the coarse of their life. Some people choose to put off the eating as long as possible and kinda slide through situations without any grief. Thus postponing the crap eating until a later time. I, on the other hand choose to look at things a bit differently. If I have to muscle down all this crap anyway, I might as well take big bites and get it over with that way, when it’s all gone, I can spend the remaining part of my life crap free. It’s a theory and it’s mine, that’s it!

Okay, that was way harder than I expected it to be. I could have probably come up with other more entertaining tidbits, but I’ll just leave it as it is. Thanks Kim for the tag, now to “pay it forward”. Let’s see if they all get to ‘em.

  • I remember talking about papyrus in mississippi
  • yeah, it was pretty traumatic! I still have nightmares about it (ok, maybe not, but it was pretty gross)
  • Ugh...the Band-Aid bit is making me sick.
