iBAM Email: Mac Communities

Ronsse Johan sent me an email a couple days ago (sorry for the delay):

I recently got employed as a web designer and was forced to work on a Mac (after years and years of Windows). In the beginning I hated it because there were some simple computer tasks I couldn’t figure out immediately. However, over time I started to appreciate the features and feel of OS X way more, up to the point that I quietly fell in love with my Mac.

Anyhow, I want to buy a Mac. However, mactactic says it’s a bad idea to buy a Mac now. How do I know when the next Mac is coming out?

Could you point me to some interesting Mac communities?

Thanks!

There’s two questions here and I think one will answer the other, but I’m sure someone here has some sort of inside scoop on the next Mac installment (did you mean after the 8-core pro’s or something else?). Well obviously I would call iBAM a community and would hope it was in some of the “good site” lists out there, but not claiming to be the all-knowing Mac site (and knowing I’m far from it), I figured I would answer via another post here on iBAM and let the community throw in their favorite Mac community sites and insider info via the comments. Here’s the ones I have been known to hang out in from time to time:

That’s all I could think of off the top of my head and who’s in my Google Reader. I can’t wait to see what else is out there. Bring it on!

  • Hey :) Thanks for including "The After Mac" on your list of sites. I appreciate it.
  • If you are just looking for how far a product is into its life cycle another good site http://buyersguide.macrumors.com . It pretty much provides the same info as Mactactic except it has a few more stats and provides links to recent rumors about the product.

Good luck on your future Mac purchase Johan! I made the switch earlier this year and haven't regretted a thing :)
  • I just started a blog with reviews of quality Mac websites and you might want
to take a look at it:

    http://quality-mac-websites.blogspot.com/

And, yes, I am looking at iBAM as a site to add to the list, but I’m waiting
until you add some more content.

You might also want to take a look at my website. I have many tutorials and
tips on the site, often for beginning Mac users. The site address is:

Look in the sidebar for the links to the tutorials, tips and archived issues of
    my monthly ezine.
