Reboot your ipod, and when you see the apple logo, click & hold “previous” + “Select” buttons. this will bring you to diagnostic mode.

You can do that with a music file, too, if you go to “Get Info”, “Options” page, and select “remember playback position”. Because that, of course, is the setting in podcasts and audiobooks that allows this feature.

Awesome tip Jon. I wasn’t sure if iTunes kept track of where you were, so I’d always finish listening to the current podcast before I synced it again.

I should probably clarify that just a bit:

“In iTunes, scroll to the Podcast you were listening to on the iPod”

I think this little “trick” also works with audio books as well.
