How to Win an iPod Shuffle

Review Me for an iPod Shuffle

In an effort to spread the word out about this site, hopefully gain more readers and as a direct result of the “I have a shuffle to give away, but how?” post that was made earlier this week, I think we have come up with a great little giveaway contest. First, I would like to thank everyone who participated with the ideas. I will be using most of them in the near future for more giveaway contests (This has been way too much fun to do only once). Second, I would like to say a special thanks to Wess Daniels for this excellent idea (which he got from Paul Stamatiou by the way). So here’s the scoop…

The challenge:

To get the word out about iBAM, Digg it and write a review for a chance to win the shiny new Shuffle.

Rules:

The contest is simple, there are three ways to enter (yes, you can do all three for three times the chance)

  1. Write up a simple review for iboughtamac.com on your blog, your trackback to this post will be your entry. Posts that just link here without a review will not be entered (I will read them all), it must be a legitimate review. However, if your trackback doesn’t show up in the post, feel free to link to your post by commenting here as well but it won’t increase your chance to win if you do both. One entry per site/review/trackback.
  2. I have Dugg this post so that I can add additional entries in to the drawing for those who digg it. Please be sure I can contact you though (through Digg or otherwise) in case you are the winner.
  3. Join the iBAM mailing list. All email addresses (all current and future will be entered into the drawing. Must be a legitimate address (or I can’t get a hold of you).

That’s it! Three chances to win a shiny new iPod Shuffle.

The contest ends March 12th, 2007 so on Monday, March 12th at 11:59pm (AZ), I will take all the trackbacks, diggs & emails, put them in a hat (or box, or spreadsheet) and randomly select one entry from the mix to award the brand new 1gb Blue iPod Shuffle to. I will post the results as soon as I have confirmed with the winner.

Disclaimer: I reserve the right to remove any or all entries and conduct this contest as I see fit. I am an honest person with no hidden motives. I have one iPod Shuffle, it’s blue, it’s new and I want to give it away to one lucky person. Please don’t try to “abuse the system”. This is a friendly promotional exercise to help spread the word about iboughtamac.com. You don’t need to ruin the fun for anyone by exploiting some sort of loophole. I’m not the state lottery. I’m just a guy trying to spread the word about my new blog site. Please be considerate, Thank you!

Okay, back to the post… I have to admit, this had been a very educational experience and quite a lot of fun. I’m really excited to see how it all comes out. I think I am more excited to see reader participation than to give away the Shuffle as I have really learned a lot from the comments you have all made while visiting. I thank you in advance for the reviews, diggs and emails and I sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

  • well, I havent started my blog yet. well, i'll do the last 2. Thanks for the opportunity in any case.
  • 2 out of 3 ain't bad... Good luck!
  • I did all three - however for the email portion, I signed up with my business email account, which is different from this personal one. Is that cool?
  • I found your article, because I'm one of the people who are very active on DIGG.This idea of marketing with a contest is very good, but not that way ( on digg ).Digg is a website where news & articles become popular if more people consider that they should be popular. The news or article should be news worthy to be on the from page, and receive the big traffic. This post is not for the first page in my opinion, and I'm not the only one who think this.Is just a a small contest.

Now I have an advice for you.If you want more readers, you should concentrate on providing value, quality and fun. This is the true way to get people on your website. The hard part is to be consistent and keep them on your website.

Anyway ... I've joined this contest because I want an Ipod Shuffle for a long long time, and maybe this is the change to win one.

P.S - English is not my natural language, so I might have some mistakes.

    Have a great day !

    DUGG !
  • Sorry about that. Like I said in the article, I am new to a lot of things. Not necessarily technology, but my Mac and Digg are pretty high on the list. My honest hope is that the rest of the articles on this site are the resource your looking for. I thank you for your advice and I will take it into consideration on the next contest. I do hope this contest proves to be fun as well as the site is useful and all that...

Anyway, thank you for the digg, I appreciate it!

I haven't got a blog. I'm a casual reader of Digg but haven't signed up. I guess I'm going to join your mailing list even though I've just added you to my Google Reader subscriptions! Oh well, after this contest I'll unsubscribe from the mailing list but continue to read your posts on Google Reader.
  • That's fine by me... I think a lot of people will probably do the same. However, I wish they wouldn't. This site is about community and I would like the emails to be something different from the site. Still working on how to do that, but I have a few ideas. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!

    Thanks!
  • Just incase the ping doesn't work.

  • Hi there, love the site, love the design, love contests.

Can't beat this place with a stick. Add that to the fact that I just bought my first Apple computer (a 17' MBP) since the Apple ][e and we've got a wonderful situation.

" I think a lot of people will probably do the same. However, I wish they wouldn’t. This site is about community and I would like the emails to be something different from the site"
In which case I'll stay subscribed! You should make that clear though since at the moment the subscription option is in the smae panel as the RSS options and it appears to be related to the same content offerings. If the email is going to offer different content don't be shy - tell us!
  • Hi there! Everyone read my review http://getmerich.blogspot.com/2007/03/ipod-hunt...
  • I had fun using my hat to draw names from for my contest, here are some pictures!

  • Is this open to fans outside of the U.S? I hope I stand a chance..
  • Brent,
I posted a review on my Tumblelog. I don't know if that qualifies as a blog post... and I'm not familiar with this trackback thing... but here's a link to the post.

I also signed up on your email list and Digged!

Thanks for this cool and very helpful site!

    Who is the winner?
  • The winner was the digger "Fireflock" - I sent an email via their MySpace page this morning, but still haven't heard a response. I will give them until tomorrow morning and draw again. If I do draw again, I will post the new winner here. Thanks for checking in.

*Fireflock, if you are out there, respond or you will lose your Shuffle.*

  • Did he claim it yet? I'll claim it for him! :)
  • no he didn't... but someone else just won. Check the home page. BTW, I'm looking for more ideas for the next contest. Any ideas?
  • since your site is about buying a new mac - how about a contest for new mac buyers who can show how your website influenced them.
  • I really like the idea... I think I am going to post about it just for curiosity sake. I would hate to "pick" the best switcher story though. That might be a bit hard
  • Amit
