Finding Cool Software for Macs

Mac OS X Apps

Even if you think your Mac already has everything you could possibly need, chances are that there are many tools and applications out there that may still be of interest to you. For example, did you know that there is a program that allows you to display multiple Web pages in a single window? Would you like to create custom CD labels for your growing CD collection? SplitBrowser and CD Labeler are just two of the thousands of programs available for Mac users.

To learn about more software for your Mac, check out Mac OS X Apps. From the Welcome page, look at the Sections column on the left, which contains links for different categories of software. These categories include Apps (applications), Scripts and System, which are further divided into subcategories, such as Screen Savers, Graphics, Games and Internet. (SplitBrowser is found in the Apps: Internet category, and CD Labeler is under Apps: Graphics.)

Click any link in the Sections column to display the full list of software available in each category. The screen shot below shows all the categories listed under Apps: Internet. Notice how there are well over 700 available in just this category!

Clicking on any software link will display a description of that software as well as a link to the site from which you can purchase or download it. Or you can download it straight from the description page if you don’t want to see the designer’s Web site for additional information. While not all the software described on this site is free, you can still find many tools and programs that are.
