I have always been a desktop cleaner. I hate a lot of stuff on my desktop, in fact I have a folder on my desktop just for putting crap I’m working on into so it’s not all over my desktop. The probelm I run into is that I find myself drilling down into folders all the time just to do what I need to do on a regular basis. You would think that I would figure out a great solution on my own for my desktop OCD, but no. Derek’s article on using desktop shortcuts properly to acomplish both tasks is just the OS X tip I needed. Thanks! (Sometimes the easiest solution is the least obvious – Maybe that’s just me)
